Housing Insights Issue 7: Cornamona Court, Intergenerational Living

Ireland’s ageing population and changing housing needs requires thoughtful responses from local authorities and housing practitioners.

This Housing Insights paper explores Cornamona Court, an intergenerational housing development delivered by Dublin City Council (DCC) on a brownfield site in Ballyfermot, Dublin 10. The scheme integrates Age Friendly and Universal Design principles, offering a replicable model for inclusive, sustainable social housing that supports older people to live independently, while fostering social connection and community integration.

This Housing Agency paper describes the benefits of intergenerational living and the work that Dublin City Council did to develop this successful housing scheme of 61 homes. The aim of this case study is to provide the learnings to other social housing providers to be able to replicate with similar projects.
