Age Friendly Ireland and Meath County Council were delighted to visit Oslo recently and present at their national housing conference (Boligpulsen 2025) organised by Husbanken, the Norwegian state housing bank.
Declan Gaffney, National Technical Programme Manager provided attendees from Norway’s municipalities and government departments with an overview on the Age Friendly Ireland Shared Service and Ireland’s approach on the delivery of Age Friendly Housing for Ireland’s ageing population.
The presentation was followed by site visits of two age friendly housing developments for older persons in Oslo at Seniorhus and Kampen Omsorg+, with informative knowledge transfer sessions with Anne Berit Rafoss, Project Manager from Centre for an age-friendly Norway.

We were delighted that Barry Lynch, Director of Services represented Meath County Council having been a key member of the National Implementation Group responsible for the Housing Options for Our Ageing Population Policy group.

This was a fabulous opportunity for shared experiences, learnings and embedding of initiatives across the 8 WHO domains and to working collaboratively with our European counterparts, progressing Age Friendly cities and communities in both jurisdictions.
